HOW TO CREATE AMAZING PORTRAITS IN THE DAYLIGHT
For this set of headshots I took pictures of my friend Arial. I really wanted to get a bunch of different varieties of how you can shoot people in the shadows, and in trees. There are a few ways you can capture amazing portraits outside in the harsh sun.
- STRAIGHT IN THE SUN-For the first picture I used no reflector or lights. Simply just in the sun with a little touch up. If you lower your settings so it bring in less light you can brighten up a lot in photoshop if you decrease the highlights and increase the exposure.
- SHOOTING AGAINST THE SUN– For the second picture I was shooting against the sun and had to make the subjects face lighten up. In order to do that you underexpose so you can get the sun in their and then use a speedlight to lighten up the subjects face.
- MAKE SHADOWS YOUR FRIEND NOT YOUR ENEMY-The next photo was shot right next to the bush. I really wanted to to capture a cool shadow effect on her face. This is one way you can make shadows a plus to your pictures instead of a negative aspect to your pictures. Wherever you are shooting find a cool shadow effect and put your subject in the shadow and light.
Good luck on your amazing outdoor portraits in the sunlight.
